Let's talk A2Ls, the group of mildly flammable refrigerants gaining popularity in the wake of the phasedown of traditional refrigerants like R410a and R22. Safety concerns regarding their flammability in addition to tool compatibility are two major topics of conversation, leaving many wondering, “Will my tool work on A2L refrigerants? And is it safe?”
INFICON is proud to offer a full line of A2L Certified tools that are not only compatible with A2Ls but also independently tested and certified for use with all A2L refrigerant blends. From leak detectors to refrigerant charging scales, you can be confident your tools will keep up with the changing refrigerants.

Understanding A2Ls and the Phasedown of HFCs
In recent years, significant attention has been directed towards finding alternatives to high-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants in response to environmental concerns. Concurrently, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has initiated a phasedown program targeting the reduction and eventual elimination of high-GWP refrigerants. A2L refrigerants have emerged as a prominent contender in this transition, offering a lower GWP solution compared to traditional options like hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
