Head of Operations and Deputy General Manager

These analysis, measurement and control products are essential for gas leak detection in air conditioning/refrigeration and automotive manufacturing. They are vital to equipment manufacturers and end-users in the complex fabrication of semiconductors and thin film coatings for optics, flat panel displays, solar cells and industrial vacuum coating applications. Other users of our vacuum-based processes include the life sciences, research, aerospace, packaging, heat treatment, laser cutting and many other industrial processes. We also leverage our expertise in vacuum technology to provide unique, toxic chemical analysis products for emergency response, security, and environmental health and safety.
Our INFICON China Factory has been established in Songjiang District, Shanghai since 2006, currently has bout 50 employees and is providing manufacturing as well trading services to all our Business Units. In line with our China 2030 strategy, we are now looking for a dynamic Head of Operations to support the upcoming transformations.
Job Description
The Head of Operations and Deputy General Manager will report to the General Manager in Shanghai, China and will require relocation which will be covered by INFICON.
The successful professional will be overseeing the day-to-day activities of the company, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. You will lead a team consisting of Quality Manager, Logistics Manager, Production Manager, and Technology Manager, oversee and further develop state of the art production and logistics processes, establish and monitor lean warehouse and lean manufacturing improvements.

Your main responsibilities will be:
- Lead Team consisting of Quality Manager, Logistics Manager, Production Manager, Technology Manager
- Define, oversee and further develop state of the art production and logistic processes
- Translate business requirements of INFICON overseas units into harmonized processes and solutions
- Regularly challenge local teams in a culturally appropriate way to drive overall performance forward
- Establish and monitor lean warehouse and lean manufacturing improvements
- Facilitate regular alignment sessions between relevant functions in Asia, Europe and the USA
- Consistently communicate, reiterate and when needed adjust processes with local team members and General Manager
- Transfer global quality and field failure findings onto the agenda in China and ensure initiation of countermeasures, documentation and feedback loop
- Ensure the functionality of finished products, by a systematic monitoring of the end-of-line inspections, continuous improvement of the manufacturing and assembly processes in alignment with global standards
- Join and support local teams throughout pre-delivery inspection process, ensuring flawless quality of our products leading to global cost reductions
- Support New Product Introduction and Implementation of Engineering Changes with focus on quality, cost and supply chain risk evaluation
- Oversee and coordinate relocation activities with BU as well as internally (Sourcing, Production layout & resources, Quality requirements, NPI)
- Support Cost Reduction and/or quality improvements with alternative local suppliers or DFM improvements, and initiate Engineering Changes accordingly
- Overview and improve demand and production planning for the Factory
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or another relevant field with several years of experience in the areas of Operations and Engineering in global operations, preferably in electronics industry, Quality Management knowledge is a plus
- Thorough understanding of the cultural differences between Europe/USA and China and proven cross cultural communication skills
- Understanding of the electronics business and global supply chains
- Ability to constantly challenge the status quo (even towards senior leadership of the company) and continuously strive for improvement
- Active, independent approach with a can-do attitude
- Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills that you can easily demonstrate in English and German in an international and cross-cultural environment
- Languages: very good level of English and German, Mandarin is a plus
- Experience with SAP, MS Office
- Relocation to Shanghai is required
- Travel requirements up to 20% (Domestic and International)
