Please note that the work location is Mariehamn (Åland, Finland) and good communication skills in English both verbally and in writing are required. Knowledge of Swedish is beneficial since everyone at INFICON Aaland speaks Swedish.

We are seeking someone who wants to work with exciting technologies and become part of our development team that is passionate about improving our products and processes. Our products undergo many complex and proprietary process steps in vacuum and at high temperatures. Our responsibility extends from raw materials to finished vacuum sensors.

Your Role

As an R&D Engineer, you will work on the development and improvement of our ceramic vacuum sensors. This includes conducting electromechanical simulations and practical experiments to understand sensor behaviour and propose design improvements. You will work on improving our calibration sequences (various types of software compensation). We also believe you will be involved in the design of electronics for capacitance measurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct electromechanical simulations and practical experiments. Work towards a deeper understanding of our vacuum sensors and propose how they can be improved.
  • Be one of our calibration experts and work to improve the calibration of our vacuum sensors.
  • Collaborate with electronics designers as a sensor expert and suggest how electronics can be improved.
  • Collaborate with both local and global colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering physics, electrical engineering, or similar.
  • Programming skills.
  •  Electronics knowledge.
  • Data analysis. Ability to interpret data and find correlations.
  • Practical and solution-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL).
  • Experience with vacuum systems.
  • Experience with sensor technologies.
  • Swedish, both spoken and written.
