Make Your Gas Leak Survey with IRwin Fully Mobile

INFICON launches a new app for the IRwin^® Methane Leak Detector. This new app, called IRwin Check-in, makes the daily work in the field more mobile than ever. Save time in data collection, simplify co-working and let the operators adapt their work to the surrounding conditions with IRwin Check-In. The App will support both Android and IOS phones and tablets.

IRwin Check-In

IRwin Check-In supports all the functions available in the previous app, IRwin Remote Control, but offers new, improved functionalities. The wireless communication between the instrument and the phone will offer full flexibility and comfort to the operator. The instrument can be carried in the shoulder strap where it fits the operator best. The phone will work as an alternative screen for instrument live leak data or what peak value the instrument has seen since an alarm was triggered. IRwin Check-In also facilitates co-working significantly where live wireless data can be shared between operators, for example the survey operator and the colleague responsible for documentation into a leak survey GIS system. Live data transmission is possible, even at distances of 40-50 meters between the instrument and the phone.

IRwin Check-in also has improved support for simultaneous Bluetooth connection of the instrument and a wireless earphone. This has two major advantages. The first is that it eliminates the risk of missed audio alarms, even in very busy traffic or noisy environments, such as a construction site. The second advantage is that it is very useful when survey or pinpointing is performed at night or in crowded areas. Repeated alarms from small leaks or constant alarms from big leaks could be disturbing and stressful to the surrounding community.

Data sharing with a few, simple clicks

A new function of the IRwin Check-in is the possibility of downloading logfiles, function test reports and GC reports with the phone and sending them to the home office using the preferred platform such as MS Teams, mail or a company cloud function. This will significantly simplify the work of collecting and analyzing data from the field, such as survey breadcrumb trails with highlighted leaks. The need for the operator to return to the office, connect the instrument to a computer and download the data is now eliminated. Selecting the data to transfer and sending it directly to the office is possible with a few simple clicks in the App. This allows operators to spend more time doing the work on the street, saving time and money.

Once sent to the home office, the file can be uploaded to the computer as if the instrument was connected at the office.
