INFICON Acquires Assets of Photovac Inc., a US-based Specialist in VOC Detection Equipment

Acquisition Further Strengthens INFICON’s Position in Environmental Monitoring and Emergency Response Markets

Bad Ragaz/Switzerland / Syracuse/New York — November 15, 2011 — INFICON (SIX Swiss Exchange: IFCN), a leading manufacturer of instrumentation and process control software for the semiconductor and vacuum-coating industries and other industrial applications, has acquired the assets of Photovac Inc., a developer and manufacturer of volatile organic compound (VOC) detection equipment. The addition of Photovac’s products and sensor technology to the already proven line of chemical detection and monitoring systems will help INFICON expand its market reach.

Founded in 1975, Photovac Inc. is located in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA. The company has been a leader of VOC monitoring technology for several decades. Photovac products include handheld, portable and rack mounted instruments based on Photoionization Detection, Flame Ionization Detection and Gas Chromatography technology. Many of the company’s products are intrinsically safe and provide identification and quantification of potentially hazardous VOCs on-site, giving emergency and environmental response teams the information they need to make quick, accurate decisions about potentially dangerous situations.
