INFICON Installs FabGuard Sensor Integration and Analysis System At Major Semiconductor Manufacturer

SYRACUSE, N.Y. & ZURICH, Switzerland, Dec 7, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- INFICON Holding AG (SWX Swiss Exchange and NASDAQ: IFCN), a leading developer, supplier, and manufacturer of vacuum instrumentation for semiconductor and related markets and a worldwide leader in vacuum instrumentation for industrial applications and on-site diagnostic assessment, today announced that it has installed its FabGuard Sensor Integration and Analysis System on the 200mm tools of a U.S.-based semiconductor manufacturer specializing in integrated circuits for consumer products.

FabGuard is a fully automated, real-time early fault detection and analysis system for improving semiconductor equipment and process productivity. As part of the order for FabGuard, the customer also purchased a variety of in situ analysis sensors.

"This installation reflects the continuing demand we are seeing in this weak economic environment for products and technologies that deliver substantial process improvements and cost-savings," said James Brissenden, president and chief executive officer of INFICON Holding AG. "Faster troubleshooting of process problems makes the return on investment in FabGuard apparent to semiconductor manufacturers for process optimization, tool utilization improvement and reduced wafer scrap."
