Paul E. Otth Elected Chairman of the Board
Balzers, Liechtenstein and Syracuse, New York - May 26, 2004 - INFICON (SWX Swiss Exchange and NASDAQ: IFCN), a leading manufacturer of vacuum instrumentation and process control software for the semiconductor and vacuum coating industries as well as other industrial applications, today announced that Paul E. Otth has been elected chairman of the board of directors. Mr. Otth, who has been a member of the board since 2000 and served as vice chairman since 2002, will assume this responsibility for one year, after which it is planned that a new chairman will be named.
Mr. Otth was chief financial officer and a member of the executive board of Unaxis Holding AG from 2000 until 2002. Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer and a member of the group board of Siemens Building Technologies. Mr. Otth, a certified public accountant, also holds directorships in Swiss Rail, Ascom Holding AG, Swissquote Group Holding AG, ESEC Holding AG, and EAO Holding AG.
As previously announced, John Grad, formerly chairman of the board, as well as board members James Brissenden and Kurt M�ck, resigned from the INFICON board of directors effective as of the company's Annual General Meeting 2004. As a result of these changes, the company's board is now made up of five rather than seven members.
