Some of the units in the U.S. Department of Defense's order will be deployed as part of its security initiatives for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
HAPSITE Field Portable GC/MS instruments are used for immediate on-site analysis of toxic gases for rapid decision-making. Used to determine the level of volatile organic compounds and to designate safe areas, HAPSITE has been sold to various U.S. military branches, to military units within NATO, to state and city governments for emergency response, and to a broad range of private sector customers for environmental applications such as hazardous waste site analysis and remediation, chemical process control, and indoor industrial hygiene applications.
